A filling is simply something that the dentists put onto or into your teeth to restore a hole or return a chipped tooth to its normal shape.
There are many ways in which decayed, broken down or fractured teeth can be restored or conserved often using minimally invasive techniques which are aimed at preserving your tooth structure and ensuring the long term survival of the tooth.
There are three types of basic material used: composite and glass ionomer cement, which are both white; and amalgam, which is silver. We aim to be an amalgam free practice, where amalgam will be restricted only for selected clinical scenarios.
An alternative to fillings are porcelain or gold inlays.
