A bridge is a means of replacing a missing tooth with an artificial tooth which is rigidly held in place by the adjacent tooth or teeth. This will involve crowning the supporting teeth.

It is a fixed option for replacing the space (like an implant) meaning it stays permanently in your mouth. Dental bridges literally bridge the gap created by one or more missing teeth.

Alternatively metal wings can be used to support the artificial tooth which are bonded to the back of the supporting tooth/teeth, these are referred to as “Maryland Bridges” or “Resin Retained Bridges”.
